I'm calling Maryland home these days. It has its own appeal, but is quite an adjustment from the western landscapes I grew up in. The terrain is flat, mostly hidden behind trees and almost entirely privately-owned. I did manage to sneak out to Shenandoah National Park a couple weeks ago, but besides excursions like this, quick trips from the house on a Saturday morning are slim pickings for the landscape photographer who heeds "No Trespassing" signs.
The farmland here is lovely, and as soon as I make contacts with local landowners I'm sure these pastoral scenes will start showing up on my site. As it is, my most recent work includes Shenendoah NP, Wyoming (on a whirlwind trip as the photographer for my sister's wedding), and Great Falls on the Potomac River. And I also managed to capture a few nice images of the local flora in an overgrown, empty lot in the middle of town. Just goes to show that great shots can come from anywhere.

Dream West, as a business, has been dormant for the past two years and will be up and running again early in 2010. I have managed to keep my camera active, however. Since returning to the Navy in 2007 I've spent time in various locales including Illinois, Florida, Washington and Hawaii and you can see evidence of a few of these places on the site, which, by the way, is brand new this week. As timing would have it I'm posting my new site and leaving town during the same week and won't have access to e-mail until late November or early December. Nature of the job. Anyway, I hope you'll have a look around while I'm out. If you send an e-mail, I'll catch up to you later this year. I plan on relocating to Virginia in January and once I'm settled and get things straightened out businesswise, I'll be accepting orders again. Thanks for visiting Dream West.
