Ordering Prints from DreamWest Photography
Processing your order should be quick, simple and personal. Send me an e-mail naming your desired image, print size and printing material (explained below) and I will respond personally with a price quote. Payments will be made online through PayPal. Upon receipt of payment, I will have your image printed. This will usually happen within a week and you should receive your print within two weeks. The only exceptions to this will be periods of travel during which I have no access to e-mail. If you check out the Latest News page to see what I'm up to, there won't be any surprise delays. Before you get into the material section, here are a few points of interest:
- As a rule, I ship prints unframed. If you would like to break this rule, I might oblige. Please inquire.
- Canvas prints will be shipped rolled. Others will be rolled or flat depending on size.
- I have my work printed at Fine Arts Gallery in Ogden, Utah, which is also an excellent custom frame shop. If you want a print framed before shipping, this is the place to do it. For orders in Hawaii, I will print at Hawaii Gicleé on Oahu, though available printing media may differ slightly.
- I do not offer prints smaller than 12x18. With the exception of a few of my earliest images, which I submitted to a stock agency several years ago, I will not sell images on my site for stock or commercial use. I want you to enjoy these images in your homes and workplaces as archival quality fine art prints with the knowledge that they will not be devalued through commercialization.
Printing Materials
Canvas
Canvas lends an artistic quality to photography that is definitely gaining in popularity, and for good reason. It presents a refined appearance made familiar and attractive to our eyes through centuries of canvas paintings while retaining much of the crisp detail we expect from photography. It requires neither glass nor matting during the framing process and is therefore lightweight and easy to handle. Canvas prints will be shipped rolled with two-inch white borders to accommodate stretching.
Recommendation: Upon receiving a rolled canvas print, take it to the framer as soon as possible. Canvas should not stay rolled for extended periods of time as this can adversely affect its condition.
Entrada Fine Art Paper
Art paper is a sturdy, lightly textured material that allows ink to spread very slightly during printing. This results in a subtle softening which I find very attractive in many images from landscapes to florals. If an image already contains soft elements such as fog, art paper can be a great compliment to the scene. For most photos I want to frame, mat and put behind glass, art paper is my material of choice.
Somerset Watercolor Paper
Watercolor is much like art paper in many respects but has a traditional watercolor texture. Printing on watercolor is a matter of preference and my use of it depends on the scene. In a particular seaside image of birds and waves blurred by a long exposure, for example, I thought watercolor paper was the best fit.
Luster
This paper provides the bright finish so strongly associated with photography. It shows detail well and presents a very smooth texture. Once again, personal preference dictates choice. Luster usually works well for portraits (which I don't currently offer) so skin and facial features come through with max clarity. However, luster will work for any image.
Pricing
Below is the price chart for standard DSLR format prints (2x3). Panoramas and images cropped to a 4x5 format won’t match these dimensions but I will calculate the price to accommodate the difference. For panoramas, send me an e-mail requesting a quote. Simply state the length in which you would like to order the piece and the material you would like it printed on.
